The Journal 01

The first assignment after orientation week. We were given a topic by our ENBE lecturer, Ms Delliya to research on, which is Natural Phenomenon.

We were briefed during class about what we should do and examples of research topics we could choose from were given.

So basically, the aim of the “The Journal” is as a medium for us, students to record ideas, information, our investigation and references. The Journal Exercise is to be submitted every 3 weeks. There are a total of 4 journals and it took up 20%.

So what is Natural Phenomenon? According to The Free Dictionary, the definition of natural phenomena is all phenomena that are not artificial. [ Phenomenon - Any state or process known through the senses rather than by intuition or reasoning. ]

I chose Bio-luminescent Bloom to be researched on. I wanted to do something that's not that common as I saw a lot of my course mates doing volcanic eruptions, rainbows, etc. My topic focuses on only Bio-luminescent Bloom and not the whole Bio-luminescence topic. Below attached the scanned copy of my work.

Reflection

Throughout the process of this research, I have learnt how to use the visual-note taking technique to collect and present my findings. I have also learn a lot more about bio-luminescent bloom, like how do they form, why are the organisms glowing and where can they be seen, etc. Besides that, I've also learnt about how the uses of bio-luminescence contribute to our lives.

This assignment reminded me how amazing mother nature is. There are so many kinds of natural phenomenons that are all out of this world and all of them happened because of our mother earth. We must appreciate mother nature and do our own part in conserving and preserving nature.
