Project 02

The final project for ENBE, which means semester 1 is coming to an end! It was a really fun semester! I would definitely miss all those friends that are taking QS.

Anyway, for this project, we were separated into a group of five ( Anna Neo, Ong Min Junn, Me, Darren Sia & Jeffrey Liew) according to our tutor. Everyone need to propose their own city and show progress of the proposed city every week during class. We then need to complete a full length in depth report and a video presentation about our city. Our tutor will choose the best city in our group that is deemed possible to build for the group component. We must also prepare 2 A2 presentation board for the future city exhibition together with the city model.

The Second Exhibition - Future City

Reflection

My favorite project ever! ( Although I don't really favor the report part. )
I've always like to build models so this project it's kinda like enjoying my hobby, but in a really limited time frame. It's really crazzyyy building this model. We did not have any proper sleep for 3 days straight and we started quite early to be honest. Folding those triangles and connectors then connects them into a pair -> 3 pairs connect into a hexagon and connects more, either a single triangle or pairs or even trios to form the shape we want. Basically it involves a lot origami ( which I also adore ) but when there's that much and you couldn't spare any time to rest, it will eventually get boring. So,TEAM WORK is especially important! Luckily our team communicated quite well and we manage to complete everything in time.

I've learned a lot from this project.

From the individual work, I did a lot of research and obtained knowledge about different kinds of cities ( ancient cities, present cities and future cities ). I've also understand more about urban planning , zoning, how does a city function, etc. I'd even created my own city with the information obtained. Besides that, I've also learned how to edit videos using Sony Vegas Pro ( This is extremely new to me as it's only my second time editing a video ).

From the group work, once again, it made me realized how important team work is and TIME MANAGEMENT ughh we're still lacking that. And because our time is really limited, ( we're practically racing against time ), we brainstormed and changed the way of building the model a few times so we could save more time.

Although we received a good grade thanks to our hard work ( hard work paid off ) and the mastermind behind this city ------ Anna Neo *Claps* ( We're very satisfied with the result) but there's still a slight regret as we did not show the zoning of the city which our tutor particularly asked us to. If only we had more time...

The Journal 04

The Journals Compilation.

The last assignment! Reminding us that semester 1 is really coming to an end. No more ENBE :(
I really like this subject. Thank you Ms. Ida for always helping us an giving us good advice.

Soooo, we need to design a cover for the file and compile everything together. ( The Journal 01, 02, 03 and Project 01, 02 ) We must also printscreen some part of the e-Portfolio and include it in the file.

The Cover

The Journal 03

We were required to visit Kuala Lumpur to experience the 5 senses in the city. We then need to record down what we see, feel, hear, smell and taste and produce a journal ( min 5 pages). I decided to visit Pasar Seni. I went there along with a few friends that are doing the same location.

Below attached a copy of my work.

Reflection

As I'm from Penang, there're a lot of places in KL that I've never been to. I've only been to Malls and restaurants. It was a fun experience! Through this journal, I'd improved more on my visual note taking technique. I'd also decided to use different materials to produce my journal ( I used watercolor this time instead of the usual markers ). I saw many historical buildings, experienced and understand more about the different cultures that affect those buildings during the trip. Besides that, it also made me realized that we should be more responsible to our surrounding areas. ( The smell from the Klang river is awful, rubbish on the streets, etc )
