For the first project, we were asked to sketch out what we saw on our short trip to Malacca. Each sketch must be related to one design elements. We must sketch out 8 sketches that are related to what we saw on the trip and 2 artwork unrelated. ( One abstract and one geometric ).
Below attached the sketches.
Reflection
Throughout this assignment, I'd learned to view things in a different perspective. Besides trying to obtain interesting view/ photos for the sketches, we must also think outside the box/ creatively with the choice of style we want to incorporate in our sketches, for example, hatching, cross hatching, scribble, etc; all those simple techniques that we had learned in class. I'd also did some research on the techniques and elements, to further improve my knowledge about them.

Project 1B Daily Items Artwork
We were required to form a group of 4 based on famous designers beforehand. My group consists of Claudwie (L), Me, Bridget & Razin. We received duct tape/ masking tape from drawing lots and chose to use masking tape. There were a numbered of base for us to choose from too and we chose wire mesh.
Below are photos of our artwork during exhibition.
Reflection
Throughout this project, I learned additional knowledge about design principles, that are related to the first project's design elements. The elements must be understood first before applying the principles. Besides incorporating the knowledge obtained from class, we did additional research and brainstormed on our theme and concept. Even our exhibition's spot were chosen by considering our wire mesh base and masking tape artwork. The sunlight allowed the layers of masking tape to be shown. I'd also learned that teamwork is very important as there were quite alot of artwork that we need to complete in such a short period and equally distributed jobscope are extremely helpful that helped us to speed up our work progress. As we also need to produce explanation for each and every one of our artwork, good leadership skill are a must and I'm glad that our leader did a good job in doing so.

Project 2A Mood Cube
For this project, we were also required to be in a group as it was a group project and we were still with the group before. Only our tutor changed. So the second project's aim is to teach us to transfer 2D words into 3D artwork/ models. Our keyword was crash.
There were 3 stages of model making process that we went through; the first, we were to create 3 mock up models about the keyword, then chose one that best represent our keyword; secondly, we were to create 3 exact models of the chosen one and experiment with colors. ( Hot, cold, monochrome, contrast, etc ); and the final stage, experimenting with different types of materials. ( wires, wire mesh, plastic sheets, model board, etc )
After experimenting and going through the 3 stages, we need to create a final model bigger than all those previous models and using the materials/ color chosen.

Reflection
This project was quite hard for me as time management is very important and we kinda started too late so everything was in a rush as we wanted to present the best models during exhibition. Luckily we did it in the end with all those sleepless nights. And again, it made me realized how important teamwork and good leadership skills are. We brainstormed and did the final piece and presentation boards together. The progress was quite slow as we wanted our final piece to have good workmanship and we managed to do it. For the presentation boards, we did a lot of research and considered about the layout ( grid, lines, formality, etc ) by revising on architects' works. We were able to utilize what we found out into our presentations board. Although the lecturers doesn't really adore our explanations, we were still quite satisfy as they love our design process and the final model.
Project 2B Miniature Toy Display Box
For this final project, we were required to design and create a display box for our Lego toy character. Also, from keywords of our characters, we need to transform it into a 3D art display box. We were also required to produce a minimum of 2 A2 presentation boards about the display box. This project was the first individual project that required us to work independently.
My character was Batman and I'd decided to work on the keyword double life. As we all know Batman is actually Bruce Wayne, the billionaire playboy businessman. A double life is definitely present so, I'd decided to venture on that.
Inspirations

Straight lines representing Batman, about formality, seriousness, etc.

Soft curves, rounded pleating of paper representing Bruce Wayne, the softer side.

Reflection
This project was the hardest for me. In a short period of time, we were required to complete so many things. Although I did not procrastinate, it was still numerous sleepless nights. It was in fact the most numbered days of me not sleeping and staying in the studio as I got stuck about the keyword and questioned about my concept, the theme & myself for a few days. Luckily I overcame it and completed this final project in time.
I did a lot of research for this project as our lecturers wanted our presentation boards to be professional, like a degree student or an graduated architect. I learned about the dos and don'ts about composing a presentation boards, what to include, the correct way to do so. etc. It was very tough. I brainstormed and think outside the box about how to transform my keyword into 3D form that everyone could understand. I am incredibly grateful that our tutors were always there whenever we needed help and their patience in explaining and helping us when we do not understand something.
